  4. Reprimand, conference with principal

Explain that the first consequence is a verbal warning (reprimand). The second will require the student to write about why his behavior was not appropriate.

My rules are firm and consistent. The student only gets three goof ups before I call a conference. Make this clear. Be VERY firm at first, and taper off as the year goes on.

Fourth time…conference with principal. Assure students that I know they realize that we are here to learn, and that I expect them to pay attention and do just that. Make it clear that you will not tolerate students talking and being disruptive during lessons.
